Monica Lasky

I am a wildlife biologist and NSF Graduate Research Fellow pursuing a PhD in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at the University of Florida. My research investigates how ecological traits shape species interactions and ecosystem processes, with a particular focus on how body size influences animal ecology. I study the behavioral roles of keystone species, examining how their actions drive ecosystem dynamics and shape biodiversity.

 

My previous work has explored the effects of human activities on wildlife behavior and habitat use, shedding light on population and community-level changes. By integrating behavioral ecology with conservation science, I develop evidence-based strategies to mitigate human-wildlife conflict, inform management practices, and support ecosystem resilience.

I am originally from Raleigh, North Carolina and currently live in Gainesville, Florida. Outside of work, you can find me riding my horse, gardening, snapping photos of wildlife, and exploring the beautiful natural landscape that Florida has to offer. ​​​
